Four-Level Three-Phase Inverter With Reduced Component Count for Low and Medium Voltage Applications

This paper proposes a novel three-phase topology with reduced component count for low- and medium-voltage systems. It requires three bidirectional switches twelve unidirectional producing four-level voltages without using flying capacitors or clamping diodes, reducing the size, cost, losses. Removing diodes allows it to simplify control algorithms increase reliability, efficiency, lifetime. A modified low-frequency modulation (LFM) scheme is developed implemented on proposed produce staircase voltage four steps. Further, level-shifted pulse width (LSPWM) used reduce filter size output controllability. In this study, balancing algorithm executed balance DC-link capacitor voltages. The performance of numerically demonstrated experimentally validated an in-house test setup. Within framework, power loss distribution in conversion efficiency circuit are studied, its main features highlighted through comparative study.
